Bad News........Another Surgery :(

Took Lizzie to Primary Children's for 3 appointments today. Only had 2. When we did the follow up for her MRI she had this morning we found out that she has a lot of fluid build up on the right side of her brain(side the surgery was done on). Her shunt is on the left side of her brain and it working well, but maybe too well and draining too much fluid. So, they are going to go in tomorrow at 11 a.m. They are going to remove her shunt, reopen one of the holes they drilled into her head and drain the fluid on the right hand side of the brain. Then they will likely do another permanent shunt on the right hand side of her brain. We will likely be staying at PMC for about 5 days or more. We are a little bummed because we were planning on going to Sun Valley for my annual Edward Jones meetings Friday-Sunday and it is something the whole family looks forward to. Instead we'll be staying at Primary Children's.

Needless to say, Carol and I are extremely stressed about the whole thing. Lizzie has been through so much. She is taking it well. We are trying to put a positive spin on the fact we have to stay there again and that she has to go through another surgery or two. There was a little girl hooked up to a ventilator at PMC and she looked like she had been through so much. Seeing that little girl helped me realize it could be worse, but it is so difficult knowing that Lizzie has to have a couple more surgeries and it is breaking our hearts. Our neurosurgeon thinks this buildup is why she hasn't rebounded as fast and well as we had hoped. Anyhow, please keep her in your prayers. They are much needed and appreciated.
