A Hairy Mess

Tonight Lizzie had a bath and we decided that with the drain out that we could finally wash her hair. It was so matted, tangled and we seriously debated giving her a cute bob because of how bad it was. It has been 9 days since we could wash and comb it, combine that with a lot of laying down and you have a serious recipe for some major screaming.

We combed and combed and used almost an entire large bottle of detangler on her poor hair. After an hour and a half, I think we can finally say that's we can comb through it! I did get dug with fingernails a few times and called the worst mom in the world, "I hate yous" and many other shouts - I'm glad she has a brain injury or that girl would be in some serious trouble :)

She had a great day, was able to go to physical therapy. We just walked a little and she colored with markers. The left side of her face is drooping again today - we're not sure if that was because they messed with the brain again getting the drain out or what that's from, but we expect it to get better like it did last time.

She is down to only one dose of pain relievers per day and I think that is contributing to her increased perkiness. She laughed with her nurses tonight and tried to splash them - it was fun to see her a little playful.

Overall it has been a great day, we're hoping for many more like this!

Ben and Carol,
We are glad to hear she is doing better. We check daily to get the update and pray as a family each night for her and your family. I get choked up thinking about how hard this is for you and your kids. We wish we could be closer to be of more support. We miss you guys and hope and pray for Lizzie to get better and better each day. Families and close friends are our Father in Heaven's greatest gifts. We really appreciate your faith and friendship. If there is anything we can do for you from Alaska, please let us know. We love you guys, and Carol, I think the potty talk is genetic, but I would blame it on Ben.
