The Latest......

Well, we just got moved in to our own private room. It is such a blessing! We feel much more at home. In the PICU(Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) you have to call every time to get into the area and people just barge in and out, and there isn't a lot of space for us and our belongings. But with this new room there isn't a "gatekeeper" to the area and we can use cell phones(seriously a huge blessing, especially because 90% of the are of this hospital doesn't have cell phone access) and we actually get good reception in our room. It has a large door on the room instead of a curtain and sliding glass door. It also has our own toilet! These are small things, but with all of the stress we have had, they feel like HUGE blessings. Lizzie still hasn't slept and we are really concerned about that, but she isn't quite as agitated and as soon as they give her some dinner she will also get some melatonin and hopefully we can ALL get some sleep.

Lizzie still has a raging fever and her heart is beating out of her chest. Her motor skills are improving but have a long way to go. It has been fun watching her color tonight. She is doing great with that and it was fun to watch her do something she really loves to do. I let Carol have a much needed break today and she went and bought some comfy clothes for the remainder of our stay. I was glad she was able to get a break. With how long Lizzie has been awake I am super stressed because I know that the best thing for her little body will be for her to get some sleep. I am hoping the melatonin helps. We all could use a good nights sleep tonight. We may not both be able to stay in our room tonight, we are hoping for a nurse that will allow us to bring in our foam pads for Carol to sleep on the floor(J/K, you know I would be the one on the floor and give her the couch!).
Lizzie's left side is not recovering as much as her right, but she is making progress. We need to try and encourage her to use that side as much as possible so she isn't so reliant on her right hand and side. All things considered, with how much she has gone through we are amazed at her progress. There are so many little miracles that have happened and things just could have been so much worse. I am so thankful for modern medicine. It is amazing how much is known and is here to help us. I am sure that much of our peace and her good recovery has come from your prayers, thoughts, efforts and kindness. We feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and the outpouring of concern has been touching to us. We never realized how good we have it and we want to thank you all for your concerns in our behalf.
One last thing, Primary Children's Medical Center is so amazing! We have been treated with so much concern. The nurses are amazing and so attentive to our needs and it is all done with kindness. I have not had one complaint about how wonderful our stay has been. I will say one last thing, then I'll wrap this up. One of the good things about our new area is that we felt like the doctors are more concerned with our primary concern right now.....getting Lizzie's fever and heartbeat a little more under control.
Thanks again for all of your prayers, love, and concern for us and for Lizzie. We have had many generous offers to help and we want you to know that they are much appreciated. We feel like this sweet little girl has been instrumental in unifying many towards a collective good of sacrificing and showing concern and the willingness to help others. If nothing else, we have been incredibly blessed to know how many people truly care about our family and are willing to help. Something as simple as a prayer, or hearing that children and teenagers fasted for the first time for our little girl makes us feel so grateful. Now, if it isn't too much to ask and you are reading this, please pray that Lizzie can sleep tonight after being awake now for 29 hours straight. Again, Thanks!

Whoever thought a little girl could be so instrumental in teaching so many people about the power of faith, fasting and prayer and in trusting our Heavenly Father. You can't help but know Heavenly Father loves her, and all of us as well. There is no doubt love is one of the most powerful unifing emotions and it lifts us up in our trails. What a great example your family is for all of us on how to handle adversity when it comes. Lizzie and all of you are constantly in our thoughts and continued prayers. See ya tomorrow--Bishop
