It's ALL about Spencer!

When we were in the hospital, Spencer came to visit one day and he started acting really obnoxious and was asking for everything under the sun (I'm sure he just needed some love from us) and I told him, "Spence, this is not all about you right now." He turned to me and said in a very sad, angry voice, "Well, it's not all about Lizzie either!"

We have had to work with him since we've been home to show him lots and lots of love and attention and in honor of Spencer turning 8 this week, this post is all about him!
But, I do have to mention super quick that we have had some great things happen with Lizzie this week, but that's for another post.
Spencer with his good buddy Wade
Spencer had a great birthday! He got a fun electric scooter, a new suit and his own scriptures (along with lots of other treasures from family members and friends).

Spencer trying out the new ride...are you lovin' Calli's boots with shorts look? It's her usual!

Spencer and Ben on our Daddy/Mommy/Spencer date to the Olive Garden.

He is a new member of Cub Scouts and this week was the pinewood derby - he made a BYU car and while the car didn't win any records for speed - it did win for appearance. Ben and Spencer had a great time making the car and Ben was just thrilled that it didn't fall apart on the track...the Huff's aren't known for their being handy with making things!

Spencer was baptized a member of our church today - it was such a good day and Spencer is so darn cute. I asked him how he felt after his baptism and he said, "hmmm, well, I felt something." He is a boy of few words, not a real deep thinker, and would just love to be playing with his friends all day long. He wrote in his journal tonight and he wrote, "I got baptized today. I feel like a different person." It was sweet.
Spencer loves contests and enters any and every contest he can - I admit it, he got that from his mommy! Tonight he heard a contest on the radio where you could get tickets to a play...we love plays in our family...so he came home and typed up his own email and sent it in and he WON - he was so excited, it was funny!
Spencer is a goofball, kind of like his parents - he loves to tease, to play sports, he is such a good boy. He is very sweet to his sisters and especially is very kind to Lizzie. He goes into her room in the morning and says, "I want to give you the first hug of the day!" He does the same thing at the end of the day. I feel like he has been very instrumental in helping Lizzie get better - he has a way of making her laugh when she would just like to cry.

I have said this before, but I would really love to clone this kid, he is so fun, so good and we just love him to pieces!

I wish we lived closer. I think my Matthew and Spencer would be really great friends. It seems like they have very similar personalities. Thanks for sharing with us Spencer. He is darling!

What a great kid! Happy Birthday Spencer! It would be fun to get our families together sometime. I also have an 8 year old and it sounds like my Will and your Spencer would be quite the pair. :)
